Last night me and some of the boys from the BPC got together online and played Grand Theft Auto IV. It didn’t start out well. A few weeks ago, Rockstar released a patch that was supposed to fix the friend list issue where you can only see 50 people on your list. What we at the BPC did was create a new user account with _gta at the end so only those people would be on our friend list. We had some new players join us, so they had to set up their account before we could start playing. So an hour later, we actually started playing.
You would think that after all this time since the game was released that they would really fix that issue. I haven’t checked their website yet, but I’m sure they have been flooded with complaints that the issue is not resolved.
Despite that, we played one game of Car Jack City, then went into Free Mode, where you can wonder around Liberty City doing whatever you want. It takes a lot to kill each other in this mode, so we mostly drove around doing crazy stunts. Took helicopters to the top of the highest building and base jumped. And while the boys were jumping a helicopter at the airport, I practiced rolling cars so that I can go for the Rolled Over trophy. It’s one of the last ones I need in single player and it’s been a pain to get.
At the end of the night, we all flew in a helicopter to the statue of Happiness and jumped out to see the beating heart inside. A couple of the guys haven’t seen it yet. There is a trick to seeing it though, and it’s not the easiest thing in the world to do. You have to align the helicopter just right and then jump from it and land in a particular spot. Av, one of the youngest in our group, made it on the first try. I died 3 times jumping out, missing the mark and so did others. They were still trying when I logged out. My headset died and it’s no fun playing if you can’t talk. I’ll ask them today if they saw it.
Free Mode was fun, but next time I’m ready for objective based missions. I like those best.
